Devlog 1: Anim in Piskel

I started practicing and using a new software called Piskel app. I was worried at first because I am not the most talented with digital art and making art using pixels. I think the part that was fun was trying to build a story or scene with the art I created. I liked the aspect of creating a story with creating characters using simple movements. It made me realize how much time it actual takes to make frames take make the characters or objects move, blink, and wave.
I like how the Piskel app is a very intro friendly software to beginner in animation. It was not too complicated or intimidating to use. When I hovered my mouse over button it told me what each product does to the canvas and I liked especially on the side bar, it told me how to export, resize the drawing graph, save, export and import.
The first one I made was a character of a young girl. She was the first full body character I made; it was fun because I got to customize everything about her. I like her design but there are many parts that I can improve on like the proportions with making the character walk without it looking strange. I discovered a lot more mechanics and easier ways to make art faster like using the grid was a main way that I create many of my gifs.
This was one of the easiest ones I made because using the circle tool, but I do feel like this one was the most fun to make. As I wanted to include robots in my video game. When I was searching for inspiration or researching ideas, Robots have just been on my mind a lot so I might do a futuristic game. The hardest part this gif was the hands because making the robot look realistic while using the space given was a bit difficult.
This was the hardest gif because of how many frames needed to make the object to tell a story or complete the animation. The hardest part was making sure that the animation was as smooth as possible. The grid, move, and bucket tool helped me a lot in order to complete this gif.
I think the most interesting thing I used for this discovery was the palettes, it was very helpful when many of my gifs when I included many of my colors or trying to find the previous color I used. I think what was the most difficult was trying to think about what I want my object to do in each frame and how can it make a scene that can help make a story for my game.
Overall, I like using Piskel, it pushed me to get over my anxiety about digital art because I am not the best at it and did not know where to start. I am looking forward to using this software for my upcoming project and I cannot wait to share more updates and more art.
